Jocquese Whitfield
Jocquese Whitfield, also known as SirJoQ, is a multifaceted artist born and raised in San Francisco. He is a renowned Vogue dance instructor and has been teaching his Vogue & Tone classes since 2010. Whitfield’s career began with freestyle hip-hop improvisation and has since expanded to include modern, classical, and Diasporic dance traditions. He is a member of various dance groups and currently dances with M.O.M. (Mind Over Matter). Whitfield’s movement vocabulary revisits the bold, rebellious statements of the 1980s, expressed through fashion, nightlife, and a love of the abstract. He is also a shape-shifter, challenging assumptions of sexual identity in dance by playing with both “masculine” and “feminine” aspects.
