Black to Africa is fiscally sponsored by Dance Mission Theater.

Ugandan promoter and part organizer of Ukweli Foundation Saad K. Miiro and Mission based Producer Kontrabandbeatz is launching BLACK TO AFRICA, a program that promotes exchanges between Black artists in the United States and African artists on the Continent. Artists with expertise in dance, rap, hip hop, and music will travel to  Uganda and Kenya this year to exchange ideas, art, cultural identity, and the latest trends in art, politics, and African identity. Black to Africa is an affirmation and recognition of the immense talent, insight, pride and experience that come from black people living in the USA, and places both cultures on equal footing to transform all of humanity and create a better world.

ARTISTS & CURATORS

KontrabandBeatz: Kontraband Beatz is a Bay Area music Producer born and raised in San Francisco’s Mission District. He’s known for his diverse and broad sounds from Hip hop, Rap, Afro-beat, Soul, andCountry. His work spans from artists in the Bay Area, Chicago and Africa. His work is inspired and influenced by his multicultural environment and his own native roots in Haiti and Jamaica.  

Saad K. Miiro: Event promoter/coordinator. Community organizer. Social justice activist.

Saad Miiro Hunter a renowned serial event organizer/coordinator famously known for having run for mayor of Entebbe (Uganda’s former capital) and his mass tech volunteer coordination work at hands on bay area beautifying schools and parks. He has worked with Uganda night SF at toy soldier bar, Bantu Afro night at level 13 club Oakland and Hungover Sundays at Why not Lounge, Now partaking in helping Organize UNAA  SF 2022 at Hilton San Francisco September 2-4 (the biggest Ugandan annual conference) focused on cultural exchange.

Now partnering with Dance Mission studio to bring you “Black to Africa” trip to East Africa and cultural exchange as well as corresponding event party fundraiser “Return of the kings and Queens” (Black to Africa) this August 20th. A community organizer. 

He is also a known bay area photographer/videographer doing videos of MC Red, photo shoots for “Why not Lounge” a career stretching back to his days at sketch agencies (a successful modeling company he co-founded)  in Kampala-Uganda. 

Dr. Kells: Ameh Sunday Kelvin (born 6th August 1996), known professionally as “Dr Kells” (sometimes stylized as Sweet boy ), is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He is a native of Igala in Kogi state. He grew up in Kubwa, Abuja. He started recording music at the age of 14 and managed to release hit Singles with GMG (Good music Gang Group) a group two of his friends formed together back in the day. The young talent is a student of the University of Abuja , obtaining a professional Bsc in Economics. The vibes and medicine has stunned the Nigeria music industry in the last year with a grand style having a successful career in 2019, sharing stages with African pop stars such as Wizkid, Timaya, Zlatan, Falzthebahdguy, Omah Lay, Rema and many more. Dr. Kells  was also among the winners for the Gree AC Talent Hunt, which allowed him to air an official interview with HIPTV. 

Jess Tarantino: Jess Tarantino is a videographer and photographer from San Francisco, CA. With her experience documenting in industries such as sports, tech, and fashion; she brings a unique eye to any project she’s a part of.

Bizzel: Bizzel formerly A.B of Y.H is a versatile artist from Oakland Ca. Best known for his witty yet thoughtful rhyme scheme. He was originally part of a four-man rap group called Young Hustlaz. This group was formed by Young Gully, Young D, Lil Chris and Bizzel in 2004. After a few group projects (Young and Hustlin) (Next top Hustla) (Still YH). He started pursuing a solo career in 2012. The (Y.H) members pushed him to create solo music to help branch off the brand. Between 2012 – 2017 he released his solo mixtapes “Bizzel vol 1-3.” Bizzel has been featured on several compilations across the country. In 2015, he released two big singles “A lot” and “Chillin” both songs help propel his underground career to a new height. In 2017, he released his first full length album, “Written by Bizzel.” He released two duo projects with his fellow YH member Young D/ D Spencer (California Nights 1 & 2). In 2020, he released (Into Existence). He continues to write music for himself and other artists and is passionate about creating great music.
