July 1: Call for D.I.R.T. Artists

The D.I.R.T. Festival, or Dance In Revolt(ing) Times, is a biennial social political dance festival that first debuted in 2015.  D.I.R.T. presents the work of artists that explicitly addressing local/global challenges through their creative process. There are many ways that an artist may address such challenges – be it from the content of their choreography, to looking at who has a voice, to their process.

This year’s festival will be held Oct 24-November 5, 2024. Over the thirteen days leading up to the looming November 5th election, Dance Mission Theater will be hosting a 13 day performance festival/ritual and invocation for world peace. We are looking for artists!! If you have work that you would like to present that relates to issues that are at the forefront of this election season – be it Reproductive Justice, Voting Rights, Immigration, Democracy, Environmental Justice, Women’s Rights, and/or World Peace – please apply!

This is a PAID opportunity. Artists will have the chance to present 20-60 minutes of work and will have 2 hours of tech time. Work can be presented inside of Dance Mission Theater or outside at the BART Plaza.

The deadline to apply is July 1.
