MUD WATER IV is a futuristic portrayal of the near-extinction of turfing, presented in the style of a documentary and in the form of a live evening-length theater performance that combines dance, storytelling and projected motion graphics. In the year 2032, turfers find their world overrun by AI which have grown massive after many years of feeding on global social media dance trends. In a last ditch effort to preserve the roots of the culture and movement, the remaining turfers attempt to teach an AI named Dance-GPT all about what turfing means.
This project is made possible with support from the Gerbode Foundation, Rainin Foundation, and Dancer’s Group. Please note that adult language is used throughout the performance.
