Intermediate Hip Hop with Bianca Mendoza
A summer series
Tuesdays, 7-8:15pm, Starting July 12

This Hip Hop is structured to be fun and playfully challenging. Bianca’s style of hip hop is a mix of many cultural dance styles such as House, Dancehall, Salsa, and Bay Area Grooves. A goal of this class is to explore the different ways one can move and groove to rhythm through the lens of Hip Hop.

BiancaStephanie Mendoza was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area where she began her training in classical ballet with principal dancers of the San Francisco Ballet, Carmela Zegarelli Peter and Zoltan Peter.  Bianca was accepted into the BFA dance program at the California Institute of the Arts. Bianca was trained in various dance techniques by celebrated dance artists, including Colin Connor (Limon company director), Andre Tyson (original Alvin Ailey company member), and Cynthia Young (San Francisco Ballet).

Bianca is the founding artistic director of  Binki Danz, a dance company that explores today’s complex political, economic, racial, and gender issues.  A Latin American feminist, Bianca has shown works across the United States. Works include that Jonnek’a Nok, Loaded Yoke, Colloquy and My Self.  Bianca is currently dancing and choreographing for Krissy Keefer’s Dance Brigade Company and directing Dance Mission’s Youth Program.
