This March 20, Paseo Artistico recognizes the Womxn, Mujerx and female identifying artists, leaders, and cultural workers in our community. The Paseo Artistico organizations and partners in the Calle 24 Latino Cultural District are coming together to highlight local womxn who inspire, lead and create more opportunities for womxn and people of color to share their voices. We want to recognize how important culture is to communicate the message of maintaining our health, and planning for a better future. Our womxn leaders have made The Mission District remarkable with important contributions to cultural institutions, traditions and small businesses that help us get through this crisis together.
Paseo Artisitco “Mujerx En Accíon/Womxn Who Lead” includes presentations from womxn leaders in dance like Metzi Henriquez director of Fogo Na Roupa, Krissey Keefer founder of Dance Mission, Tania Santiago, Afro Brazilian dance creator. The event will also highlight cultural leaders, educators and administrators like Ariane Cortes who leads the Mariachi Music Program at San Francisco Unified School District, as well as musical performances from Mexican composer Martha Rodriguez-Salazar, and singer songwriter Carlie Mari. Local Pinay poet and author of Letters to a Young Brown Girl (City Lights, 2020) Barbara Jane Reyes will perform her poems. Master artist Juana Alicia will showcase her visual art for us along with muralists Elaine Chu and Marina Perez Wong of Twin Walls. As well as a look at the work in progress of media artists Cheyene Concepción and Camila Magrane from Zero 1/Gray Area who are using augmented reality to redesign several San Francisco public monuments. We have also invited several Legacy businesses from 24th Street Latino Cultural District to join us live on Facebook. Join us for this powerful and exciting event to promote our womxn leaders and artists.
Hosted by Fatima Ramirez, Executive Director of Accion Latina and DJ Agana visual artist, designer and DJ.
