May 8-29: Dancehall Workshop
Back to Basics Dancehall with Aimee Zawitz
$15/class or $55 for all 4!
Back to basics is a dancehall moves intensive. We will scale back, start from the beginning, and practice straight up dancehall steps. No choreography, no modifications, no rhythm changes. The steps taught will be exactly how they were created (with a little Cali swag) by the crews of dancers in Jamaica. Let this workshop be an introduction to deeper research, learning, and understanding of Jamaican Dancehall. Everyone is welcome and no dancehall experience needed.
Week 1 – Old/Mid School Dancehall – Foundational Dancehall groove and flow
Week 2 – Stylish Moves Dancehall – Classy Sexy Dancehall Steps
Week 3 – New School Dancehall – All the newest steps by some of the baddest dancers in Jamaica
Week 4 – Badman/Bad Gyal Dancehall – Gangsta style dancehall
